Our Hydrosols are steam or water distilled from fresh farm grown plants harvested at the height of their aromatic potency. More gentle than pure essential oils, hydrosols make a great addition to creams and body products, or simply used on their own as face toners and aromatherapy mists.
We use a copper Al-embic still, hand-hammered in Portugal, following the traditional method of making Essential Oils & Hydrosols. This is an alchemical process calling on the elements of fire, water, earth and air to bring out the fragrant medicinal compounds of the plants. Hydrosols, also known as “hydrolats”, “floral waters” or “distillates”, are made in the same distillation process as Essential Oils, however, Hydrosols are more gentle and safe for use directly on the skin. They also require less plant material making them more sustainable.
Our hydrosols are available in 2oz retail bottles at our farmers markets and in our online SHOP.
Bulk hydrosols are available by order only. Please keep in mind we may only distill a plant once or twice, so timeframe to order is limited.
