Spring Detox Informative Retreat

  • Maple Spring Gardens 9779 Allison Road Cedar Grove, NC, 27231 United States (map)

Spring is a time of cleansing and renewal. A time for activating the body to remove toxins that have been stored in our tissues as well as breaking up the stagnancy that can occur in the down time of winter months.

Join us for a day of gentle detox, Qigong, and informative sessions on detoxing safely on your own. With a basis on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) philosophy and an incorporation of local herbs and “weeds” that you can find in your own yard.

Qigong, literally translated as “cultivation of vitality” involves moving, seated, and standing meditations to help increase the body’s “qi”, or physiological harmony. It is a gentle form of movement. In Chinese Medicine, springtime is associated with the “Liver system” (similar to, but not directly correlated with, the physical liver). Learn Qigong movements to detox the Liver.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the health of the human body and mind come from finding harmony with Nature. What does that look like, practically speaking? Dr. Sinead Corrigan, licensed acupuncturist and Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine will share with us how to best harmonize with the Spring season utilizing food, herbs, exercises, and more! This lecture will emphasize how to stimulate and care for the liver and gallbladder, the organs associated with springtime in TCM. There will be time for Q&A, so bring your questions! (For example: are green juice cleanses helpful? How do I know if intermittent fasting is right for me? Are parasite cleanses safe? How do I know my liver needs a detox?)

We will break for a vegan lunch with foods and wild herbs from our farm, provided by farmer and herbalist Sunshine Dawson.

After lunch, Sunshine will lead us on a plant walk to learn and discuss some of the healing and detoxifying foods & herbs in the tea blend and lunch we enjoyed; and that you can find in your own yards or other natural areas.
